Agricolus users: Zambartas Wineries and the innovation in viticulture

The Zambartas family’s wine history began in the 1970s with Akis Zambartas, the island’s first university-educated winemaker.
In 2006, he founded his own boutique winery focusing on producing quality wine from indigenous varieties.

With the addition of his son Marcos, Zambartas Wineries has grown to a production of 120,000 bottles per year and has established itself as a pioneering, quality producer.

The company manages over 21 hectares of vineyards, young and old, organically tended by a dedicated team.

One of the main problems in Cyprus is the land fragmentation: farmers have many small fields in different locations.

This situation makes the field monitoring more difficult to be exercised in person daily. Also, the average climate conditions vary through the different locations. So, these major conditions created the need of monitoring the fields remotely and give more accurate local weather forecasts for each.

The main features I’m using are the satellite imagery (mostly the NDVI index) to monitor in an efficient way the health of the plant; the weather forecasts and the defense models for the Grape powdery mildew and the grapevine downy mildew to act promptly and optimize treatments.

I would recommend Agricolus to every farmer that need to reduce its production costs and the impact of agricultural practices (fertilizers, water consumption etc.).
