The agricultural sector is undergoing a radical transformation with the introduction of innovative technologies that allow for optimizing production and reducing waste. Among these, smartphone applications dedicated to precision farming represent a powerful tool for farmers and technicians who want to improve agronomic practices.
The new Agricolus App “Precision in the field”, officially presented during Eima International, has been completely redesigned to offer farmers the best user experience both inside and outside the field.
A wide range of features to monitor and analyze the health status of crops and to manage activities on the farm.
Map fields with ease
The new App stands out for its ease of use right from the start: once registered, users begin mapping their fields intuitively by manually drawing the contours of the plot directly on the map or using automatic detection. This last option uses GPS detection technology and satellite images to automatically identify field boundaries, reducing the margin of error and saving precious time.
This hybrid approach offers maximum flexibility, allowing farmers to tailor mapping to their specific needs.
Remotely monitor fields with vegetation indices
Within the new App, thanks to the analysis of seven different vegetation indices, it’s possible to evaluate the health status of the crops. The indices offer a detailed overview of the growth status of your plants, allowing to make informed decisions on aspects such as water stress, nutrient deficiency and plant diseases.
The farmer can then view the data in real time, helping to identify potential problems and planning targeted interventions..
View weather data and forecast models
The user also has access to data from connected weather stations and advanced forecasting models. These features allow for precise estimation of crop needs and prevention of plant diseases and the presence of harmful insects.
Weather data includes crucial information such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation.
Forecasting models combine this data, specific crop characteristics, and historical information to accurately predict crop needs at each stage of the growing cycle.
Farmers can thus plan in advance their defense, irrigation and fertilization operations, avoiding both excess and shortage of resources, with a positive impact on yield and environmental sustainability.
Collect field data and manage crop operations
The new App’s features dedicated to collecting and analyzing data in the field allow to record detailed information on crops, soil analysis and the onset of any problems by attaching photos and notes, including voice notes, to share in real time with your collaborators.
Even the crop operations carried out can be recorded and managed: a detailed sheet is created for each one, creating a digital archive.
This system not only facilitates planning of future activities, but is also an excellent tool for complying with any regulatory requirements and quality certifications.
